How to Fix a Synthetic Wig

Is your synthetic wig feeling more like a bird's nest than a chic accessory? Don't panic! Even the most stubborn tangles and frizz can be easily managed with the right techniques. Whether you're dealing with a mass of knots or unruly frizz, here's a simple guide to help you fix your tangled and frizzing synthetic wig:

1. Prep for Detangling: Start by gently spraying BeautiMark Smooth Detangler onto the tangled areas of your wig. This will help soften the fibers and make them easier to work with. Allow the solution to penetrate the tangles for a few minutes before starting the detangling process.

2. Take It Slow: Using a wide tooth comb, begin detangling your wig from the ends and work your way up to the roots. Take your time and be patient, gently working through each knot without pulling or tugging too hard. If you encounter particularly stubborn tangles, apply more detangling solution and continue combing until the knot loosens. Avoid using brushes as they cause more tension on the fiber which leads to frizz!

3. Combat Frizz: Make sure to use a leave-in conditioner formulated for synthetic hair after you cleanse your wig which will help moisturize the fiber. Avoid using products containing alcohol, as they can dry out the fibers and exacerbate frizz.

4. Steam Treatment: For persistent frizz or static, consider giving your synthetic wig a steam treatment. Frizz is most likely to appear around the nape or bottom of the wig where the fiber has been rubbing up against your neck and shoulders. Secure your wig using a Canvas Block Head Kit and work in small sections to steam problem areas using a wig steamer. Clip up the rest of the hair while you concentrate on each individual section. Be sure to keep the steamer moving constantly to prevent overheating or melting the synthetic hair. The steam will help relax the fibers and smooth out frizz, leaving your wig looking sleek and polished.

5. Cool Down and Style: Once you've detangled and smoothed out the frizz, allow your synthetic wig to air dry completely before styling. Avoid using heat styling tools on regular synthetic hair, as they can cause irreversible damage. Instead, style your wig using low-heat methods such as finger styling, gentle braiding, or using foam rollers for soft curls.

6. Store Wisely: To prevent future tangling and frizzing, store your synthetic wig properly when not in use. Hang it on a wig stand or store it in a breathable storage bag like the ResQ Bag Mini away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. Be sure to gently detangle at the end of the day as well. This will help maintain the integrity of the fibers and prolong the life of your wig.

With these simple tips and tricks, you can say goodbye to tangled, frizzy hair woes and hello to a beautifully revived synthetic wig that looks as good as new! So, don't let knots and frizz cramp your style – take control and show off your fabulous locks with confidence!
